Emotional Health and Well-being
Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum based around the use of four colours to help children self-identify how they’re feeling and categorise it based on colour. The curriculum also helps children better understand their emotions, sensory needs and thinking patterns. The children learn different strategies to cope and manage their emotions based on which colour zone they’re in. Additionally, the Zones of Regulation helps children to recognise their own triggers, learn to read facial expressions, develop problem-solving skills, and become more attuned to how their actions affect other people.
Understanding the Zones:

ELSA

At Radnor Primary School, we are proud to be a Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK) School. Our trauma-aware approach is reflected in our whole-school behaviour policy, staff training built around the mantra "Connect Before Correct", and targeted support from our trained Trauma-Informed Practitioner. We believe positive relationships help children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
What is TISUK?
TISUK supports schools to understand how life experiences and emotional challenges can affect behaviour, wellbeing and learning, helping children develop resilience, confidence and success in school.

Thrive
At Radnor Primary School, we use the Thrive Approach to support children’s emotional wellbeing and help them feel safe, confident and ready to learn. We have two licensed Thrive Practitioners who provide targeted support for pupils who may benefit from additional help.
What is Thrive?
Thrive is an approach that helps schools support children’s social and emotional development, building resilience, confidence and positive relationships so they can flourish in school and beyond.
